Everything you do must be documented as evidence toward your case study.
Once this is complete you will then present a prepared case presentation to your tutor giving justification and evaluation of what you have achieved with your athlete. At level 4 there is a STRONG FOCUS ON SELF-GUIDED LEARNING – you should be comfortable undertaking scientific research reviews and finding scientific evidence-based knowledge to support your case and learning. This will require significant time and research to find and evaluate scientific journals related to your athlete practice and sport.
You will work with a REAL COMPETITIVE ATHLETE face to face for a minimum timescale of 12 weeks in a training and competitive sporting environment: this can include any team sport athlete or individual athlete of a cyclical type sport that has a competitive season with regular competition throughout the year and the athlete is in actively competing. As the course is online and offline computer literacy is a must with availability and use of equipment and facility to carry out your own lifting practice, training of your athlete and ability to film each of these scenarios on multiple occasions where you will edit, package and send your videos for review.
There are strong planning and organisation elements to this course to achieve all in the suggested timescales. Please note this takes time and is a significant amount of work at this study level. The course content is extremely good. My reason for doing this course was to improve my ability to train my son who is an elite level wheelchair tennis player. I have over 30 year's experience of working within sports coaching, fitness and as a sports therapist. I found that this S&C method is absolutely relevant to all my professional areas. I found that the course required a vast amount of self directed study, however, help and feedback was always available. I feel confident that I am now competent to deliver S&C and I also have a clear understanding of how to continue to develop as a S&C coach.

I already work at level 4 in a medical centre, in the physiotherapy department as an exercise referral instructor. I have been in this role for 2015, prior to that, the start was when I trained as a personal trainer in 2005. Strength and conditioning has developed a lot since then, although many aspects and fundamentals are the same the emphasis on the 'why' has become much more important, the research the depth of each and every decision. I have had 2 children in the meantime and this course wasn't to get a new job but to become stronger in my current job, to give me the confidence back to not only try new ideas with conviction but to challenge others at work too and enjoy the evaluation process of it. The course has done that. A break now from studying and time to apply this.
