Very enjoyable and motivating
Our father played for the Iranian national football team and my brother and I have always shared a passion for sports, so a career in the fitness industry seemed the natural choice. Working with the Fit Training team has been very enjoyable and motivating, and after successfully completing my Level 1 foundation course, I joined my brother on the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Gym Instruction. It’s been a great experience both in terms of theory and hands on delivery, and I’m feeling confident about the future. We’re both planning to go on to the Level 3 Personal Trainer Diploma course with a view to setting up our own personal training company in the future.

I feel the world is my oyster!
However, after taking up a Fit Training apprenticeship programme, her career as a fitness instructor has gone from strength the strength.
Her story is so inspirational to other young people, even national newspaper, the Daily Mirror has published her story in full. From spotting an advert in the local paper, applying for and gaining a place on the programme and eventually gaining her Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification, her uplifting story motivates others to choose the fitness industry as a future career path.
Nicola’s career is thriving and she now works with GP Referral patients at Concordia Leisure Centre in Cramlington, and has recently passed her ‘Exercise to Music’ qualifications.
Nicola commented: “I would highly recommend a Fit Training apprenticeship programme for anyone who is looking to have a career in the fitness industry. I couldn’t have made a better decision – my confidence has grown, and now I have my qualifications I feel the world is my oyster!”
Nicola Auld (18)
I knew it was the right path for me
“I was really unhappy because it felt as though we were either stuck in the classroom or playing football and I hate football,” she explained. “I wanted to learn about other areas of the fitness industry and get more hands on experience. When I heard the advert for apprenticeships with Fit Training on the radio, I knew it was the right path for me. It has led to me finding a full time employment in the area I want to work in. You can’t ask for more than that.”
Sophie completed a Level 2 NVQ in Gym with Fit Training and hopes her success will inspire other young people. “The course and my tutor Michael were brilliant. There were a lot of group work and gym sessions, which give you a real insight into how gyms work. You are not stuck in a classroom but you are learning all the time.”

Good balance of practical and theoretical work
“After leaving the Army, Fit Training gave me to opening I needed to start my own boot camp business. The team were a pleasure to work with and gave helpful and gave clear instruction, both in the gym and on the theory side of things. What’s great about the course is that it is very flexible and a lot of the modules are completed online. Yet at the same time you get face-to-face tuition at a local sports centre, with a mixture of one-to-one and group sessions. There’s also a good balance of practical and theoretical work. I would definitely recommend it to any leaving the military and looking for a career in the fitness industry.”
